Child Visa (Subclass 101/802)

 

 

Visa 101: This Visa allows a child who is outside Australia to move to Australia to live with their parent(s).


Visa 802: Similar to Visa 101. However, the child is sponsored while they are in Australia (e.g., the child holds a Visitor Visa to Australia), and they will be granted a Bridging Visa for the duration of the application processing in Australia.

Conditions:

  • Depend on a Parent who is an Australian Citizen, eligible New Zealand Citizen, or Australian permanent resident.
  • Have a sponsoring Parent.
  • Be in one of the following age groups:

            + Under 18 years old, or

            + Over 18 and under 25 years old and studying full-time, aiming for a specific profession or

            + Over 18 years old with a disability

  • Be single.
  • Meet health requirements.
  • Meet character requirements (if the child is 16 years old or older).
  • Have repaid any debts to the Australian government (if applicable).
  • Have parental consent to come to Australia (for children under 18 years old).
  • Not have had a Visa canceled or a previous application refused (for Visa 802).
  • Be in the best interest of the child (for children under 18 years old).
